These are the characters I am looking for:

The leader and professional treasure hunter

The cryptologist - someone who spends a lot of time with him, researching and such

The archaeologist - maybe a sort of Indiana Jones type (but can be female)

The anthropologist - who often butts heads with the archaeologist because these are priceless artifacts and it's not always about money

The doctor rumored to be ex-mob, recruited right out of Las Vegas

The Competition - rival treasure hunters/teams

My guy is the team's sarcastic, surly, 'why was I ever dragged into stealing ancient crap from all over the world I hate my life' historian.

Basically, some mysterious and probably eccentric businessman recruited them, taking them from all around the world to be his team. I'm also open to the idea of them working more freelance, for other wealthy people, or even for museums. They could be working legally and illegally. I'm thinking this line will have lots of adventure, drama, action - that sort of thing. Although my character, Daniel, is surly and grumpy, I am definitely open to some sort of romance with another team member - maybe someone who's more his opposite? Other than that, I'm thinking that secretly, he does care about the general well-being and safety of his team, no matter how much he might often protest. I'm thinking he does have to go out on the field with them sometimes, but insists he would prefer to research in his nice, air-conditioned office.
